Birds new to me on the 3/09 Mexico/Michoacán trip
3/20, at the Sierra Chincua mariposa reserve:
- Red warbler
- (Western mountain peewee)
- Mexican chickadee
- Yellow-eyed junco
3/26 Pátzcuaro:
- Glossy ibis
- Say’s phoebe
- (Mexican bushtits – they don’t appear to count as a different species, but they have black caps, which the ones at home don’t)
3/27 Ihuátzio:
- vermillion flycatcher
- ash-throated flycatcher
3/28 Patzcuaro:
- Crescent-throated warbler
& piney woods above Opopeo:
- Northern beardless tyrannulet
- Slate-throated whitestart
3/28 in the Parque Morelos 45 minutes outside Morelia:
- tufted flycatcher
- acorn woodpecker
- summer tanager
- painted whitestart (aka painted redstart)
3/29 in the pass on the road between Zitácuaro and Toluca (Michoacán/Mexico border)
- summer tanager
- hermit thrush
- magnificent hummingbird
- plumbeous vireo
3/30 road between Tenango and Tenancingo
- rufous-capped brushfinch
- (possible golden-browed warbler, too – was sure I saw the eye stripe, but only for half a second)
3/30 on the slopes of the Volcán de Ajusco
3/31 Mexico City
- rufous-backed robin
- orchard oriole
- melodious blackbird
